food travelogue
watching my weekly favourite taiwanese travelogue where the hosts travel the world to introduce cuisine. i am a sucker for such shows..Japan Hour, Taiwan Hour, you name it, i watch them. the best thing about such shows is they aren’t the typical cooking shows but the hosts attempt to show the way of life in each country. you learn each country’s food culture, from the catching and hunting to obvious local specialty.
so today i learnt that sotongs are transparent when alive and turn white when dead.
and i must remember squids and octopuses are different. goodness how many times have i made this mistake, despite it being my favourite food!
i think i will suck as a hunter, because i squirm each time the fisherman pierced through his hunt with what’s that call? a stick? keke. i think i will most probably release the animals back into the wild. haha! sounds silly but i think i appreciate food more when i learn about the process.
learning cooking! mom laughs. she says i am better off nom nom nom because i can’t even handle buying the right veggies for the rabbits.
bagus!

this carrot cake from Bukit Merah hawker centre…it has lard in it that’s why it smells so nice. together with the classic pork porridge and mee pok dry/chilli loads (which i happily devoured before i remembered about picture taking) … awesome!
maybe because these stalls reminded me of childhood days when my late granny would bring me to for dinner. i remembered her ordering and fussing over extra ingredients while i sat somewhere ..eagerly like a pigeon… by a table waiting for FOOOOOD. haha!
simple fare makes me happppppppppppppppy! a pity i can’t find the oyster omelette and mini steam cupcakes stalls already.
to all our moms in the world
